Future Leaders for Peace Kick-Off March 18, 2017

Do you know any 8 th-12th graders who’d like to learn to do youth-led advocacy and community organizing? They are invited to the Future Leaders for Peace Kick-Off on Saturday March 18, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (where the ISAAC office is), 247 West Lovell St. in downtown Kalamazoo.

Over the next year, Future Leaders for Peace will lead a justice movement throughout Kalamazoo County. Aligned with ISAAC’s three core issues, youth will organize and advocate for public policies that support violence prevention, racial justice and educational equity. These young people will build support among policymakers, community leaders, parents/guardians and students. They will be trained to hold peer sessions, will conduct a peer listening campaign during the Summer of 2017, and in October 2017 will vote on their next issue to address within their youth cohort.
