Gulnar Husain in God’s Grace

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ. (To the Lord we belong and to the Lord we will return)

It is with utmost sadness that I must share that my dear mother passed away early this morning (New Years Day) after a very long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was at peace at home with our family.

The Husain family, along with the Kalamazoo Muslim Community, would like to invite you to an Open House in loving memory of Gulnar Husain.

Date:                 Saturday, January 13th, 2018

Time:                 Open House from 11:00am – 1:00pm

Location:        Kalamazoo Islamic Center, 511 Burrows St., Kalamazoo, MI 49006

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Gulnar Husain Legacy Fund” to support and recognize school volunteers via Communities in Schools (CIS) of Kalamazoo (125 W Exchange Pl, Kalamazoo, MI 49007).

Many thanks for all your continued duas, prayers and positive thoughts.

Gulnar’s passing is a loss for ISAAC.  We join in celebrating her loving, generous life.   These photos by Amy Peterson of Gulnar at ISAAC banquets in 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2016 show Gulnar’s strong support for our interfaith work for justice and inclusion.  She enthusiastically educated us about Islam, giving blessings and prayers in Arabic and English at ISAAC events.  She formed warm relationships with leaders of all the other faith traditions in ISAAC.  She exemplified the love and peace that Islam teaches.
