Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy & Action in the Community

john--pianojpg-9e0c62eeb592aaa2KALAMAZOO, MI — Rev. John C. Welch, chairman of the Gamaliel Foundation, said that this year’s ISAAC banquet theme of “On the Road to Justice” cannot ignore the conversation of race.

“Pursuit of justice is still race-centered,” said Welch, keynote speaker for this year’s banquet. “We can’t forget about recent issues with Ferguson, and also the situations with Eric Garner and Jordan Davis… After almost 50 years we (people of color) are still reeling in much of what Dr. King was fighting for and against.”

The ISAAC 2015 banquet will be held in Western Michigan University’s Bernhard Center on Saturday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m.

ISAAC, an affiliate of the Gamaliel Foundation, is an interfaith organizing network of congregations and strategic partnerships that work together to build a more just community in Kalamazoo County.
