Save the Date! October 25!

Save Thursday evening, October 25 for the ISAAC 2018 Public Meeting!

This is the evening when a HUGE audience is needed to show public officials how very strong our faith communities’ support is when they make changes of policy or practice that create equity and build a more just community.

October 25 is the evening when our three task forces—Anti-Racism, Anti-Poverty, and Affordable Housing–will present the changes of policy or practice they are discerning, to create equity for all.  It’s the evening when our public officials express their commitment to work for these changes that the task forces have discussed with them, and we applaud them for it!

Is equity different from equality? Yes. The drawings above from the Kalamazoo Community Foundation show how important the difference is between equity and equality.

What are the policy changes going to be?  We don’t know yet!  The task forces are still in the process of listening to community leaders and to marginalized community members to discern the most important changes needed.

Where will the Public Meeting be held, and what time?  We don’t know yet, but watch for an announcement soon.  In the meantime, mark your calendar for Thursday evening, October 25, and invite your whole congregation or organization to save the date and plan to be there!
