Rabbi Matt Zerwekh Chosen for Foundation for Excellence Board

Congratulations to ISAAC Family member Rabbi Matt Zerwekh, Rabbi of Temple B’nai Israel and member of the ISAAC Executive Committee, for being recommended as the faith sector representative on the inaugural board of the Foundation of Excellence.  He is one of ten people chosen, out of 150 applicants, to represent specific issues, causes and neighborhoods.

The December 18 Mlive article by Malachi Barrett, “The Foundation for Excellence’s 10 stakeholder candidates chosen,” reported:

“Faith Sector: Rabbi Matthew Zerwekh was recognized by the sector leaders, who have experienced him as thoughtful and committed to the common good. His engagement with community efforts beyond his place of worship was respected, as was his ability to give voice to a non-majority faith.

He has experience working with youth groups, including teen philanthropy organizations as well as teen leadership boards. Zerwekh is an active member of the Kalamazoo faith community, often partnering with religious leaders and various denominations in the area.

Zerwekh was nominated by ISAAC Executive Director Charlae Davis and ISAAC President Elder Doug King.  He lives in the city of Kalamazoo.”
